Castlegar, Robson and nearby

Castlegar sits where the Kootenay River meets the Columbia, about 30 minutes north of our Trail yard. We work across the city and the rural areas around it.

Local ground and lots

Castlegar's benches and Robson's river flats have deep, sandy and gravelly soil in many spots. That makes for easier digging, but trenches and footings need care so the sides don't slump.

Robson, Ootischenia and Blueberry are outside city limits, so lots tend to be larger, with room for shops, long driveways and bigger landscaping jobs.

Genelle, between Trail and Castlegar, is on our way, so jobs there fit in easily.

Who issues permits

Inside Castlegar, the City handles building permits, including decks. Robson, Ootischenia and Blueberry fall under the Regional District of Central Kootenay, and Genelle under the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary, and both regional districts issue their own permits.
